It is with anticipation, excitement, and humility that I take on the role of President of
Ridgewood AM Rotary for the upcoming year. It has already been a privilege and an honor to
get to know and serve alongside you. Our club and its membership honor the values of Rotary
International by our commitment to Service Above Self and the 4-Way test. Through the
programs we hold near and dear these Principals that are key, support Rotary’s mission. My
intention is to continue that theme and build upon it.
My goal for the upcoming year is to focus on the following:
To increase membership as well as retain the existing membership. I encourage all members to
get involved. If you have an idea, please let me know and let’s figure out how best to
implement it.
Not every event is for everyone, however it is my hope that every club member
will find at least one event that they will help plan and execute.
Food insecurity is more widespread than ever and so I would like to build upon our existing
food drives and monthly food collections as well as brainstorm new ideas to implement to
address this continuing challenge.
Our participation with the Veterans Home is near and dear to my heart. I would like to see our
involvement continue and expand to include more opportunities to assist our Veterans with
their various needs.
Fundraising is essential to all that we do. It provides the means to assist with more projects that
can serve our community. I want to revitalize our fundraising committee and efforts. Along with that I would like Rotarians to go into the Community and speak at various venues to educate and inform people about what we stand for and how we contribute. What better way to demonstrate our purpose?
Service above Self is truly why I was attracted to Rotary and the reason I joined Rotary. I will
continue that tradition. I appreciate the dedication and talent of our club’s members and I look
forward to working side by side as a team to fulfill our Mission.
Thank you, David Scher, for your impressive, knowledgeable and supportive leadership as
President of our Club this past year.
Warmest regards,
Sylvia Goldmann
